Installation process

IMPORTANT: you need recovery by yannou90 with ext support to use this rom, please follow step 3 from this tutorial (or 1 to 3 if you have not rooted your phone yet).

1. Backup your existing ROM first (steps a to e):
a. Reboot into Recovery menu.
b. Select “Backup and Restore”
c. Select the “Backup” option (don’t remember the exact text)
d. When done, select the Reboot System option
e Connect phone to PC using data cable and copy the folder clockworkmod from the sdcard to somewhere on your PC in case its needed for restoring later.

2. Prepare your SD card, using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition,
a. move all existing data on the SD Card to your PC and delete all files from it. RESIZE your existing FAT32 partition to a size where your unallocated space is at least 1GB but not more than 2GB.
b. Create a new ext4 Primary partition using all the unallocated space.
c. Apply changes

[I’ve written RESIZE in CAPS because when I tried deleting and creating the FAT32 and ext4, my phone didn’t recognize the formatting as valid. So I allowed the phone to reformat the sd card and then did it using resize FAT32 instead]

3.Download the latest version of JaggyRom from here.    [GoogleApps included]

  • Copy the latest version of JaggyROM.zip to the sdcard root. Don’t place in any folder. Rename it to update.zip
  •  Select “Wipe data/factory reset” option. Note that this option is present in the Recovery menu and is not the “Factory Reset” option available outside of Recovery menu. \
  •  Select “Install zip from SD Card” and “Apply /sdcard/update.zip” and confirm.
  • Once done, select “reboot system”

First boot takes a little longer than expected so be patient and don’t try to reset the device. The JaggyROM boot screen will show up: amuse yourself with the animation and refrain from touching the device Once booted up, let it sit a while longer to stabilize before unlocking the screen. And Enjoy !

CyanogenMod 10 (nightly – 27/08/2012) for Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570

In this nightly, the major change is that the camera is now working right from the time you flash and you no longer have to copy the lib files to get it working.Apart from that, there are not much changes. So, here are the screenshots, changelog and the flashing details.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Changelog-Quote from original thread

* Partially fixed camera (can take pictures, video recording and panaroma in stock app will come later)
* Added correct permissions for sdcard, so apps can access it.
* Optimized boot animation performance
* UMS should be working now. If it’s not:
> try rebooting the device
> Open terminal emulator; run this command “setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb” (without ” of course) and reboot
NOTE: I did some “experiments” in the kernel (long story short, increased graphics memory) so in this build we have only 269MB of accessible RAM. It’s also possible to reduce graphics memory to get more RAM, but I think that is not such a good idea.

How to create a Nandroid backup without rebooting for Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570 (Onandroid)

Are you sick of rebooting your phone to create a nandroid backup? If you are a frequent “new ROM needed” kind of person, then a nandroid backup is a must and if you want to create one without rebooting, then is just what you need!Onandroid tool created by xda member  ameer 1234567890 is a must have tool indeed! It allows you to create a complete nandroid backup without rebooting your device! So, here we go with the screenshots and the  process of using it.

This tool backups /boot , /recovery , /system , /data , /cache , .android_secure & sd-ext partitions to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup directory. The date format used for folder name is the same used by CWM itself and nandroid backups created with this tool can safely be restored using CWM. If you would want to have a custom name for backup folder, pass an argument with the name to the script and it will use the name.

Requirements

1. Rooted android phone
2. A terminal emulator installed on phone
3. Busybox
4. A working CWM based recovery installed

Installation

1. Download and copy onandroidv5.9-S5570.zip file to SD card.
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Choose install zip from SD card, select zip and flash .
4. Reboot!

Usage

1. Open terminal emulator
2. Type su to obtain root
3. Type onandroid
4. And voila! The backup has started!

How to create a Custom Backup Name
* Example:

Code:

onandroid custom_name

* Please be careful not to include characters not allowed in filenames.

How to modify Timezone
* Example: Use home/phone timezone for backup file name

Code:

onandroid -h

* Example: Use UTC (default) for backup file name

Code:

onandroid -u

That’ it!You have successfully installed the Onandroid tool on your mini. Now go make some Nandroids!

Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 Port for the HTC G1

Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 Port for the HTC G1

Some devices simply refuse to die, and the very first Android phone—the HTC G1—is one of them. It originally shipped with Android 1.0, and while it didn’t get an official update after Android 1.6 Donut, it has been running every version that the developer community here at XDA has been throwing at it. And now, the device has CyanogenMod 10-based Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ported to it!

Porting Jelly Bean to this device is a truly remarkable feat when you consider the humble specs of the device, which sports a 528 MHz processor, only 192 MB of RAM, and just 256 MB of internal storage space. However, that didn’t keep XDA Recognized Developer jcarrz1 and his team SoCal Devs from porting the latest version of Android to it.

Here is a video of the ROM in action on the G1:

The ROM is currently in pre-alpha, and there are a few features that don’t work yet such as cell service, data, and screen rotation. The speed leaves a lot to be desired as well, so don’t expect to use it as your daily driver. Rather, this is sort of a proof of concept saying that it can be done. Several key features such as the touch screen, WiFi, CM-specific tweaks and apps work fine, and even Google Now partially works!

You can download the ROM and install it to your G1 by following these instructions. For updates or feedback, head over to the discussion thread.
