How to Get the Latest Walkman from the Xperia S, T, and V on any ICS/JB Device

Now this is something really really cool indeed. As we love having different things from different devices on our “non-compatible” phones, we cannot help but enjoy features such as the Sense lock screen, TouchWiz, Blur (riight), Timescape, and more. One feature that has not gotten a whole lot of press is the Walkman player present in the Xperia S, T, and V devices. This player is featured pack with visualizations, equalizers, smooth animations, transitions, and everything that one expects of a music player this day and age. Luckily, for those who would want to get one of the aforementioned devices but cannot really bring themselves to spending more money on newer devices, XDA Forum Member Rizal Lovins has you covered.

The dev has successfully extracted and ported the Sony Walkman Style and Gallery applications from the Xperia series. The app in its current state has a few quirks including how the widget does not work as well as the SenseMe feature. However, the newer ports from the Xperia T music player seem to have solved quite a few issues with background and album art not displaying properly. One last thing is that the modded app can be installed on most devices sporting ICS, so as long as they are rooted.

Please drop by the thread and test these apps out, and leave some feedback for the dev to work out the kinks so that this can become a fully working port.

 Hi Guys …

I share the Walkman Player from Xperia S running ICS & I replace some icon

This Walkman application extracted from My Xperia S and work fine on other device running ICS/JB/CM9/CM10/MIUI ICS/AOSP/AOKP

Installation process

IMPORTANT: you need recovery by yannou90 with ext support to use this rom, please follow step 3 from this tutorial (or 1 to 3 if you have not rooted your phone yet).

1. Backup your existing ROM first (steps a to e):
a. Reboot into Recovery menu.
b. Select “Backup and Restore”
c. Select the “Backup” option (don’t remember the exact text)
d. When done, select the Reboot System option
e Connect phone to PC using data cable and copy the folder clockworkmod from the sdcard to somewhere on your PC in case its needed for restoring later.

2. Prepare your SD card, using MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition,
a. move all existing data on the SD Card to your PC and delete all files from it. RESIZE your existing FAT32 partition to a size where your unallocated space is at least 1GB but not more than 2GB.
b. Create a new ext4 Primary partition using all the unallocated space.
c. Apply changes

[I’ve written RESIZE in CAPS because when I tried deleting and creating the FAT32 and ext4, my phone didn’t recognize the formatting as valid. So I allowed the phone to reformat the sd card and then did it using resize FAT32 instead]

3.Download the latest version of JaggyRom from here.    [GoogleApps included]

  • Copy the latest version of JaggyROM.zip to the sdcard root. Don’t place in any folder. Rename it to update.zip
  •  Select “Wipe data/factory reset” option. Note that this option is present in the Recovery menu and is not the “Factory Reset” option available outside of Recovery menu. \
  •  Select “Install zip from SD Card” and “Apply /sdcard/update.zip” and confirm.
  • Once done, select “reboot system”

First boot takes a little longer than expected so be patient and don’t try to reset the device. The JaggyROM boot screen will show up: amuse yourself with the animation and refrain from touching the device Once booted up, let it sit a while longer to stabilize before unlocking the screen. And Enjoy !

CyanogenMod 10 (nightly – 27/08/2012) for Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570

In this nightly, the major change is that the camera is now working right from the time you flash and you no longer have to copy the lib files to get it working.Apart from that, there are not much changes. So, here are the screenshots, changelog and the flashing details.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Changelog-Quote from original thread

* Partially fixed camera (can take pictures, video recording and panaroma in stock app will come later)
* Added correct permissions for sdcard, so apps can access it.
* Optimized boot animation performance
* UMS should be working now. If it’s not:
> try rebooting the device
> Open terminal emulator; run this command “setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb” (without ” of course) and reboot
NOTE: I did some “experiments” in the kernel (long story short, increased graphics memory) so in this build we have only 269MB of accessible RAM. It’s also possible to reduce graphics memory to get more RAM, but I think that is not such a good idea.
